So what are my sex toys made of?

Ever wondered about the material of your sex toys? It’s hard to pick a sex toy due to the overwhelming about of possibilities. To make things easier I thought I’d explain some of the different materials used today. First of all your 6 basic materials are Plastic, Latex, Jelly, Cyberskin, Silicone, and Glass. These all have different price ranges depending on the quality. Here’s some information that will help you find the best sex toy for you.

Plastic is a popular choice for sex toys, largely because of its extremely low price. Sex toys made from plastic tend to be very basic, no-frills models. Plastic sex toys are very smooth and sleek. Plastic sex toys tend to be excellent for penetration, providing a firm and fulfilling experience. But their lack of flexibility makes them less effective when it comes to clitoral stimulation.

Latex is as cheap as plastic but gives the sex toy user many more options. Latex sex toys are firm enough for deep penetration, but these sex toys have more give and a little more flexibility than plastic ones.

Jelly sex toys provide an excellent balance between usability and cost making this the material of choice for many mid-range and luxury sex toys. Jelly is very easy to mold, color and shape, properties which manufacturers take advantage of whenever possible. This results in jelly sex toys numbering among the most colorful and exotic-looking models of sex toys as well as giving designers a chance to include many special features. Jelly is a very pliable material that has an overall smooth, soft and even supple feel to it. Jelly sex toys are very effective at penetration.

Cyberskin or Second Skin sex toys are prized for their highly realistic feel and appearance. This special material comes very close to replicating the feel and appearance of human skin, especially after you hold these sex toys close to your body to warm them up. Because of its realistic look and feel, cyberskin is commonly used in high-end adult toys and realistic sex toys. It combines the soft give of jelly sex toys with the firmness of latex sex toys. Cyberskin sex toys do require some specialized cleaning and powdering but nothing you can’t handle.

Silicone is a high quality material that is rapidly revolutionizing the sex toy industry. Silicone is prized for its durability as well as its superior hygienic properties. Silicone can put up with a great deal of stress and hard-use while retaining its original shape and qualities. Silicone sex toys tend to be more expensive because these models are meant to last for years of intense usage. For the most part, silicone sex toys are soft and firm and feel very comfortable whether used for penetration or clitoral stimulation. Silicone sex toys are also easy to clean.

The numerous benefits of glass sex toys make them highly appealing to the sex toy connoisseur. Glass sex toys have a special, unique shape and are covered with bumps and nodules to provide additional stimulation. The most unique option of glass sex toys is the ability to cool the sex toys or warm the sex toys for added stimulation. You can safely use hot water to warm up your glass sex toy to a comfortable temperature or you could place your glass sex toy in the freezer or refrigerator to cool your glass sex toy.

On top of all that, glass sex toys are highly durable. Your glass sex toy could last for your lifetime with the proper care. Glass sex toys are also non-porous. As for cleaning, you can simply throw non-vibrator glass sex toys in the dishwasher or a pot of boiling water.

Glass sex toys are much harder to manufacture than other sex toys, which drives up the price of glass sex toys compared to other sex toys. The special features of glass sex toys even mean that some sex toys have to be handmade. You will pay more for it but it will last a very long time and you will enjoy it. You can even use them as pieces of art!

Foods that sex you up

Remember that sex is neither a marathon nor a contest. That being said, it’s nice to know you can hold up your end when required. Here are a few handy pointers:

Cholesterol clogs the arteries including the ones in your penis. When you’re aroused, your penis can hold up to ten times as much blood as normal, so any obstruction of the arteries feeding it will become apparent in its tumescence - or lack thereof. Help keep these passages clear of detritus by eating plenty of oats and oat bran, which you can sprinkle on anything.

B complex sounds like an instruction from a Hollywood therapist, but it’s the catchall phrase for three vitamins, thiamin, riboflavin and niacin. The first two help your body produce energy when you need it. Niacin helps your blood vessels dilate, allowing your heart to rev up and go for broke when it needs to. It also helps your body produce testosterone. To get enough, pop some multivitamins, and eat plenty of beans, peas, asparagus, bananas and raw nuts. Watch out for the fattening oils in nuts, especially Macadamias.

Zinc to the rescue: It’s good to knock back a couple of vitamin supplements each day, but for its effect on libido and fertility, nothing beats zinc. It’s easy to obtain, but it goes as fast as it comes. One doctor estimated that you lose up to five milligrams of zinc each time you ejaculate. An oyster has enough zinc to keep you going for the day. For those of us who think oysters look like the contents of a toddler’s nose, you can buy innocuous little zinc tablets at any health shop or pharmacy.

Calcium does the trick: Here’s one more mineral you’ll need - calcium. All your muscles need calcium. Yoghurt, dairy products, dark green veggies, breads and fish, especially tinned sardines, have plenty of calcium. So do the pills marked ‘calcium’ at the pharmacy.
Keep in mind that stress is a libido’s biggest downer.

Obscure Fetishes

Balloon fetishism
A balloon fetishist becomes aroused when viewing, touching, tasting, or interacting with balloons. This can extend to the material, color, shape or even sound of a balloon.

Three general categories have been recognized when describing balloon fetishists that include, poppers, semi-poppers, and non-poppers.

Poppers generally do not focus on the balloon itself, but rather on the popping of a balloon, whether self-induced, or done by a sexual partner. The methods of popping may include over-inflating, body pressure (i.e. sitting on a balloon), pricking the balloon with a sharp object, or using teeth or fingernails to pop an inflated balloon.

Semi-poppers do not aim to pop a balloon, but are not unsatisfied if it happens by mistake, and may even find it arousing.

Non-poppers often fear the loud noise of a popping balloon, and are more interested in playing with a balloon, or the aesthetics thereof.

Balloon fetishism is not very well known, but is growing rapidly mainly due to pornographic content on the internet.

Urine fetishism
A urine fetishist involves urine in sexual activities and for sexual pleasure.

People with this fetish may find pleasure in urinating in public places, urinating on other people, being urinated upon, or even drinking their own, or someone else’s urine. Others may just prefer to watch these activities. These practices are sometimes referred to as a ‘golden shower’ or ‘watersports’.

Other varieties of urolagnia may include arousal from normal urinary activity, such as wetting the bed, wetting one’s pants, or in more extreme cases, a diaper fetish or arousal from infantilism.
